Work Conditioning Program - An intensive, work-related, goal-oriented physical restoration program focusing on the client's overall physical condition. Designed to restore strength, cardio-vascular endurance, flexibility and motor control. A Work Conditioning Program is 3-days per week/ 3-hours per day. The program is a great precursor to the Work Hardening Program.
Work Hardening Program - Custom designed job-related tasks replicating the patient's functional work environment. Work Hardening is a job specific program of activity with the goal of return to work. Work hardening programs use real or simulated work tasks and progressively graded conditioning exercises that are based on the individual's measured tolerances. The program is designed to improve the biomechanical, neuromuscular, and cardiovascular functions of the worker. The program meets 5-days per week/4 to 8-hours per day.
Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is an objective and comprehensive assessment that determines an employee’s ability to perform on-the-job responsibilities as well as activities of daily living after suffering trauma or disease that might impede his/her function. An FCE is an important tool in deciding when an employee can safely return to work following illness or injury.
