Interventional pain management is a branch of pain management that specializes in an assortment of pain blocking techniques, usually consisting of some sort of injection therapy, which usually include facet joint injections or nerve blocks.

Facet Injections:

Involves injecting a small amount of local anesthetic (numbing agent) and/or steroid medication, which can anesthetize the facet joints and block the pain.

Nerve Blocks:

Injection to decrease inflammation or “turn off” a pain signal along a specific distribution of nerve. Imaging guidance may be used to place the needle in the most appropriate location for maximum benefit. A nerve block may allow a damaged nerve time to heal, provide temporary pain relief and help identify a more specific cause of pain.

These procedures are carefully performed under fluoroscopy, which is a form of x-ray. A series of injections are usually recommended; however, it will depend on your specific case, as each patient is different. In between injection procedures you will follow-up with us to ensure that your pain is being managed. If needed, pain medication can be given, at the doctor’s discretion.

Chiropractic is a a health-care profession that focuses on the spine and other joints of the body, and their connection to the nervous system. The word “chiropractic” means “to be done by hand.” Chiropractors use adjustments to restore joint function and support the nervous system. In addition to adjustments, chiropractors also provide soft-tissue therapies, lifestyle recommendations, fitness coaching and nutritional advice.  a very safe, specific, controlled force applied to a joint to restore proper function and mobility. Accidents, falls, stress or overexertion can negatively impact your spine or other joints. These changes impact tissues, the nervous system and other areas of the body. NPs can prescribe medication, examine patients, diagnose illnesses, and provide treatment, much like physicians do. In fact, nurse practitioners have what’s referred to as “full practice authority” in 20 states, meaning that they do not have to work under the supervision of a doctor. In the remaining states, however, while NPs still have more authority than RNs, they must have a medical doctor sign on certain patient care decisions.

Physician Assistant: Physician Assistants are medical providers who are licensed to diagnose and treat illness and disease and to prescribe medication for patients. They work in physician offices, hospitals and clinics in collaboration with a licensed physician.
The physician-PA relationship is fundamental to the profession and enhances the delivery of high-quality health care. Because of their advanced education in general medicine, modeled after physician education, physician assistants can treat patients with significant autonomy.

In a primary care setting, physician assistants can provide nearly all of the clinical services a physician does, including:

• Take medical histories
• Perform physical exams
• Order and interpret laboratory tests
• Diagnose and treat illnesses
• Counsel patients
• Assist in surgery
• Set fractures
